This position is the lead financial officer for the Insurance companies, with a dual reporting relationship to the business unit Head and to CFO/Finance.   The position has oversight for the following areas for the US and Canadian Insurance business:

  • Management Reporting, Budget, Planning, Analytics & Investments

The role reports directly to the SMD of Financial Planning & Analysis and matrix to the Head of Insurance Operations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of GAAP/Statutory Financial Statements & Reporting
  • Oversight of month-end close process via production of monthly reporting and frequent forecasts/outlooks, budgeting and analysis
  • Produce presentations to executive management; articulate business environment and strategy risks and opportunities in the context of a formal budget presentation
  • Development of appropriate metrics for the individual and consolidated businesses
  • Deliver high quality analysis and value-added insight to senior management by analyzing current and past trends
  • Conduct Product Analysis and Branch Strategy
  • Oversight of Insurance accounting functions and Investments strategy
  • Manage existing and new reinsurance relationships
  • Support Internal Audit and financial oversight of internal service contracts
  • Support in governance of general business operations
  • Produce Rating Agency presentation and present financials for review
  • Expense Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a specialization in Business, Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Strong communication skills including presentation, public speaking and writing ability
  • Minimum of 7 years of executive experience within finance or insurance industry; insurance experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of insurance statutory and GAAP reporting
  • Proven record of achievement in leading innovation and strategy
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate, collaborate, influence, and partner effectively with all levels of employees and Senior Management
